Distance Learning

Distance learning courses, also known as e-learning, is any type of education that is completed outside of the traditional classroom setting. It could be a correspondence or home study course to learn a new skill, or a course that is completed entirely via the Internet. Today, online education makes it possible to earn a high school diploma, Associate, Bachelor, Master, or even a professional Doctorate distance learning degree.

In addition, business skills and employee training and development programs; career training diplomas; and foreign language courses are all available via the Internet and through distance learning.

Modern interactive technology has moved the classroom to the student in the distance learning situation. Top tier accredited universities and colleges now offer the same degree programs and curricula that they offer on campus through online distance learning degree programs, offering the same curriculum, and the courses are often taught by top faculty members.

Online and distance learning has been a boon for busy professionals, and working and single mothers. Today, career focused individuals may continue to meet their work and personal responsibilities, while earning a degree which will help them to take their career to the next level. One of the benefits of distance learning courses are the fact that they are self-paced - so students can study on their own time, anywhere and anytime they have access to a computer with an Internet connection. Due to the number of well-known and well established accredited universities now offering online degrees, employers have a high rate of acceptance of online degrees. A recent survey showed that 85 percent of employers surveyed responded that they would employ someone with an accredited online degree. With this high level of acceptance, online distance learning degrees are becoming a popular solution for working adults.

Career training diploma programs can also be completed entirely online, which is another benefit of distance learning. There are so many different fields from which to choose, from animal care and veterinary assisting, event planner certification and bridal consulting, medical and dental billing, automotive mechanics, plumbing, locksmithing or electrical......Whatever your career choice you can do it if you have the motivation to complete an online course. These career training programs help individuals advance on their current job, or for others, to enter an entirely new field or become self-employed. Because the courses are self-paced, students may continue working at their current job, while learning a new skill or career. It is a fast and easy way to learn a new skill, and once the course is completed, many individuals go on to find new employment, progress in their current jobs, or use their new skills to start their very own business.

Distance learning programs have become a good alternative for employee training and development. Employers can now offer their employees business skills training such as negotiation skills training, or effective business communication skills training online. Employers benefit from the cost savings of the employee never having to leave the office to complete the training, and the employee benefits by adding additional qualifications and credentials to their resumes.

Distance learning or studying via the Internet is a fabulous alternative for people with the self motivation and the determination that it takes to keep themselves on track without the need for a structured learning environment. The differences in learning environment from the traditional brick and mortar school to e-learning are relatively few.
