FBI Job Openings
The FBI is currently advertising job openings. With the economic stimulus package pumping more money into law enforcement at all levels, there will be more law enforcement positions available over the next few years.
Most federal law enforcement jobs have age requirements. Typically applicants must be at least 21 years of age and under the age of 37 at the time of appointment. Other positions require that you are 21 years old and a U.S. citizen. Whenever new jobs are announced, the posting will list the required qualifications for that position. If you want to work in the law enforcement field, and you are more than 37 years old, your options are more limited. However, you may qualify for a support position that does not have an age limit requirement.
In addition, most FBI agents have a degree in criminal justice or a law degree. . Having an advanced degree will help to gain one of these sought after law enforcement postions.
The federal government maintains a high standard in the field of law enforcement. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents are the United States government's principal investigators. The FBI is responsible for investigating violations of over 200 different categories of federal law and conducting sensitive national security investigations. FBI agents engage in many activities such as: conducting surveillance, monitoring court-authorized wiretaps, examining business records, investigating white-collar crime, or participating in sensitive under-cover assignments. In addition, the FBI investigates organized crime, public corruption, financial crime, fraud against the government, bribery, copyright infringement, civil rights violations, bank robbery, extortion, kidnapping, air piracy, terrorism, espionage, interstate criminal activity, drug trafficking, and other violations of federal statutes.
In addition to field special agents, the FBI hires crime scene specialists, laboratory technicians, fingerprint experts, language specialists, as well as a wide variety of support specialists.
